Topic:Askew Head ?

  • By j.oostdijk, on 10 June, 2016 at 14:33

    Hello ,

Just bought myself a #415 Wildlife Hatchet.
I don’t know that much about axes, but I read everywhere that GB would be the very best quality.
That’s why I choose for the brand.

But on inspection it appears to me that the head is quite askew?
Hard to explain (and English is not my first language), but the cutting edge seems to be slanted, relative to the hole where the handle goes.

Or Is this normal? As I read everywhere that a good axe should be straight and aligned in all dimensions.

It is very hard to capture in a picture. With the naked eye it is quite obvious to see however.
But I’ll try with pics :

    Hi,

I just checked mine and compared to your pictures. Mine lines up much better(not perfect). I don’t expect perfect because they are hand forged by craftsman. If I am looking at your pictures right, the bottom of your blade edge looks twisted and not straight with the top of the blade edge.

Probably won’t affect performance but for the price paid for this brand I would ask for a replacement.

    Joe
